NOB Shower cream cucumber

Strong cucumber scent
Of course I had to give it a try as well but unfortunately, the smell just doesn’t get to me. Besides the strong cucumber scent, I detected a faint fragrance as commonly found in soaps and shower gels. But don’t get me wrong…the scent is pleasant but because I’m more of an essential oil and fruity type of gal so the smell of vegetables don’t appeal so much to me. My husband on the other hand, takes well to it. But we’re both in agreement when it comes to the nourishing factor.
Leaves skin soothing and clean
The Yes To Cucumbers Cleansing Cucumber Shower Gel does lather up fairly well, though not too much. If you’re used to SLS type of cleansers that leaves your skin squeaky clean, then you need some time to get use to this shower gel as it’ll leave a film over your skin because of the nourishing factor. But otherwise, you’ll find your skin well cleansed and soothing because of the dead sea minerals and aloe vera. Instead of SLS, this one uses Sodium Coceth Sulfate, which is described as semisynthetic detergent-like compound derived from fatty acids obtained from coconut oil. Personally, I think it’s good for those people who are lazy to apply any body moisturizer.
There are 3 difference of shower creams.
1. Cucumber  shower cream
2. Mulberry  shower cream
3. Tea three shower cream

Herbal Hair Tonic

Aromatherapy grade essential oils with high levels of terpenes, primarily monoterpene alcohols (also referred to as "terps"), help make henna stains darker. Adding a small amount to your paste after dye release will allow you to get the darkest stain possible. Tea Tree, Cajeput and Ravensara have some of the highest levels of terpenes.
There are other oils that henna artists like to include in henna paste that do not neccessarily aide in darkening the stain. They are added simply for scenting purposes. Clove and Sweet Orange are some of these oils
Avocaado oil: Although avocado is not really a herb, we have included it in the index, as it is very often used in herbal skin care, and is also used in some of our products.

Coconut oil

The health benefits of coconut oil include hair care, skin care, stress relief, maintaining cholesterol levels, weight loss, increased immunity, proper digestion and metabolism, relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV and cancer, dental care, and bone strength. These benefits of coconut oil can be attributed to the presence of lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid, and its properties such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, soothing, etc.
As a result of these various health benefits of coconut oil, though its exact mechanism of action was unknown, it has been extensively used in Ayurveda, the traditional Indian medicinal system. The Coconut Research Center has compiled various references on scientific research done on coconut oil.

Let us now explore the benefits of coconut oil in detail:
Hair Care: Coconut oil is one of the best natural nutrition for hair. It helps in healthy growth of hair providing them a shiny complexion. Regular massage of the head with coconut oil ensures that your scalp is free of dandruff, lice, and lice eggs, even if your scalp is dry. Coconut oil is extensively used in the Indian sub-continent for hair care. It is an excellent conditioner and helps in the re-growth of damaged hair. It also provides the essential proteins required for nourishing damaged hair. It is therefore used as hair care oil and used in manufacturing various conditioners, and dandruff relief creams. Coconut oil is normally applied topically for hair care.
Stress Relief: Coconut oil is very soothing and hence it helps in removing stress. Applying coconut oil to the head followed with a gentle massage helps in removing mental fatigue.
Skin Care: Coconut oil is excellent massage oil for the skin as well. It acts as an effective moisturizer on all types of skins including dry skin. The benefit of coconut oil on the skin is comparable to that of mineral oil. Further, unlike mineral oil, there is no chance of having any adverse side effects on the skin with the application of coconut oil. Coconut oil therefore is a safe solution for preventing dryness and flaking of skin. It also delays wrinkles, and sagging of skin which normally become prominent with age. Coconut oil also helps in treating various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections. Therefore coconut oil forms the basic ingredient of various body care products such as soaps, lotions, creams, etc., used for skin care.
Premature Aging: Coconut oil helps in preventing premature aging and degenerative diseases due to its antioxidant properties.
Heart Diseases: There is a misconception spread among many people that coconut oil is not good for the heart. This is because it contains a large quantity of saturated fats. However, coconut oil is beneficial for the heart. It contains about 50% lauric acid, which helps in preventing various heart problems including high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. The saturated fats present in coconut oil are not harmful as it happens in case of other vegetables oils. It does not lead to increase in LDL levels. It also reduces the incidence of injury in arteries and therefore helps in preventing atherosclerosis.
Weight Loss: Coconut oil is very useful in reducing weight. It contains short and medium-chain fatty acids that help in taking off excessive weight. It is also easy to digest and it helps in healthy functioning of the thyroid and enzymes systems. Further, it increases the body metabolism by removing stress on pancreases, thereby burning out more energy and helping obese and overweight people reduce their weight. Hence, people living in tropical coastal areas, who eat coconut oil daily as their primary cooking oil, are normally not fat, obese or overweight.
Pancreatitis: Coconut oil is also believed to be useful in treating pancreatitis.
Digestion: Internal use of coconut oil occurs primarily as cooking oil. Coconut oil helps in improving the digestive system and thus prevents various stomach and digestion related problems including irritable bowel syndrome. The saturated fats present in coconut oil have anti microbial properties and help in dealing with various bacteria, fungi, parasites, etc., that cause indigestion. Coconut oil also helps in absorption of other nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and amino acids.
Immunity: Coconut oil is also good for the immune system. It strengthens the immune system as it contains antimicrobial lipids, lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid which have antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties. The human body converts lauric acid into monolaurin which is claimed to help in dealing with viruses and bacteria causing diseases such as herpes, influenza, cytomegalovirus, and even HIV. It helps in fighting harmful bacteria such as listeria monocytogenes and heliobacter pylori, and harmful protozoa such as giardia lamblia.
Healing: When applied on infections, it forms a chemical layer which protects the infected body part from external dust, air, fungi, bacteria and virus. Coconut oil is most effective on bruises as it speeds up the healing process by repairing damaged tissues.
Infections: Coconut oil is very effective against a variety of infections due to its antifungal, antiviral, and antibacterial properties. According to the Coconut Research Center, coconut oil kills viruses that cause influenza, measles, hepatitis, herpes, SARS, etc. It also kills bacteria that cause ulcers, throat infections, urinary tract infections, pneumonia, and gonorrhea, etc. Coconut oil is also effective on fungi and yeast that cause candidiasis, ringworm, athlete's foot, thrush, diaper rash, etc.
Liver: The presence of medium chain triglycerides and fatty acids helps in preventing liver diseases as they substances are easily converted into energy when they reach the liver, thus reducing work load on the liver and also preventing accumulation of fat.
Kidney: Coconut oil helps in preventing kidney and gall bladder diseases. It also helps in dissolving kidney stones.
Diabetes: Coconut oil helps in controlling blood sugar, and improves the secretion of insulin. It also helps in effective utilization of blood glucose, thereby preventing and treating diabetes.
Bones: As mentioned earlier, coconut oil improves the ability of our body to absorb important minerals. These include calcium and magnesium which are necessary for development of bones. Thus coconut oil is very useful to women who are prone to osteoporosis after middle age.
Dental Care: Calcium is an important element present in teeth. Since coconut oil facilitates absorption of calcium by the body, it helps in getting strong teeth. Coconut oil also stops tooth decay.
HIV and Cancer: It is believed that coconut oil plays an instrumental role in reducing viral susceptibility of HIV and cancer patients. Preliminary research has shown indications of the effect of coconut oil on reducing the viral load of HIV patients (Reference).
Finally, coconut oil is often preferred by athletes and body builders and by those who are dieting. The reason behind this being that coconut oil contains lesser calories than other oils, its fat content is easily converted into energy and it does not lead to accumulation of fat in the heart and arteries. Coconut oil helps in boosting energy and endurance, and enhances the performance of athletes.

Coenzyme Q 10

What Are the Benefits of Co-enzyme Q 10?

What Are the Benefits of Coenzyme Q 10?
xandert CRW_3122.jpg www.morguefile.com
Coenzyme Q10 is a a powerful antioxidant that is found in the human body and necessary for cells to function properly. Also called ubiquinone, coenzyme Q10 helps guard the body from free radicals known to play havoc with the immune system, which in turn cause disease. Even though coenzyme Q10 occurs naturally in the body, as people age, the body produces less and less of this essential vitamin-like substance.
Co-enzyme Q10 has been used, recommended, and/or studied for numerous conditions, but still needs much research and is somewhat controversial as treatment for health disorders. Yet people have included taking co-enzyme Q10 along with their multivitamin in hopes that the supplement will help their chronic conditions and make them feel more energetic.

Omega 3-fish oil

Fish oil is oil derived from the tissues of oily fish. Fish oils contain the omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), precursors to eicosanoids that are known to reduce inflammation throughout the body, and are thought to have many health benefits.
Fish do not actually produce omega-3 fatty acids, but instead accumulate them from either consuming microalgae that produce these fatty acids, as is the case with fish like herring and sardines, or, as is the case with fatty predatory fish, by eating prey fish that have accumulated omega-3 fatty acids from microalgae. Such fatty predatory fish like Shark, Sword Fish, Tilefish, and albacore tuna may be high in omega-3 fatty acids, but due to their position at the top of the food chain, these species can accumulate toxic substances (see biomagnification). For this reason, the FDA recommends limiting consumption of certain (predatory) fish species (e.g. albacore tuna, shark, and swordfish) due to high levels of toxic contaminants such as mercury, dioxin, PCBs and chlordane. Fish oil is used as a component in aquaculture feed. More than 50 percent of the world's fish oil used in aquaculture feed is fed to farmed salmon Fish oil has been studied for treating clinical depression, anxiety, and enhancing the benefits from depression medications. Countries with the highest intake of fish in their diets are correlated with the lowest rate of depression among citizen.
Research studies are published almost weekly where the scientific community discovers more and more amazing omega 3 benefits.

If you haven't already been swept up in the net, here are seven proven benefits you should know about.

1.    Freedom from pain and inflammation. Omega 3 fish oil fatty acids, particularly EPA, have a very positive effect on your inflammatory response. Through several mechanisms, they regulate your body's inflammation cycle, which prevents and relieves painful conditions like arthritis, prostatitis, cystitis and anything else ending in "itis."

2.    Better brain function and higher intelligence. Pregnant and nursing mothers can have a great impact on the intelligence and happiness of their babies by supplementing with omega 3 fish oil with DHA. For adults, fish oil improves memory, recall, reasoning and focus. You'll swear you're getting younger and smarter.

3.    Feeling better with much less depression. Making you smarter is not all that fish oil does for your brain. Psychiatry department researchers at the University of Sheffield UK, along with many other research studies, found that fish oil supplements "alleviated" the symptoms of depression, bipolar and psychosis. [Journal of Affective Disorder Vol. 48(2-3);149-55]

4.    Lower incidence of childhood disorders. Just to show how fish oil fatty acids leave nobody out, studies show that children (and adults) with ADD and ADHD experience a greatly improved quality of life. And those with dyslexia, dyspraxia and compulsive disorders have gotten a new lease on life thanks to fish oil supplements.

5.    Superior cardiovascular health. Fish oil's DHA, EPA and DPA have also been proven to work wonders for your heart and the miles and miles of arteries and veins that make up your cardiovascular system. They help lower cholesterol, tryglicerides, LDLs and blood pressure, while at the same time increasing good HDL cholesterol. This adds years to your life expectancy.

6.    Protection from heart attack and stroke. When plaque builds up on arterial walls and then breaks loose, it causes what's known as a thrombosis, which is a fancy way of saying clot. If a clot gets stuck in the brain, it causes a stroke and when it plugs an artery, it causes a heart attack. Research shows fish oil fatty acids break up clots before they can cause any damage.

7.    Reduction of breast, colon and prostate cancer. And finally, fish oil has been shown to help prevent three of the most common forms of cancer – breast, colon and prostate. Science tells us that it accomplishes this in three ways – by stopping the alteration from a normal healthy cell to a cancerous mass, by inhibiting unwanted cellular growth and by killing off cancer cells.

So you can see why learning more about fish oil is possibly the 2nd most important thing you can do for your health. Do you have any idea what the 1st most important thing is?

That's right. It's time to put this knowledge to work and start eating more fish and regularly taking pure fish oil supplements. That's the only way to be sure you're getting all the benefits of omega 3 fish oil.

Noni Juice

Noni juice (morinda citrifolia) has experienced a meteoric rise in popularity since its inception back in 1996 with worldwide sales now over US$1,000,000,000. Used for thousands of years as a health tonic to treat common ailments, only in the last 10 years have the benefits of noni juice been noticed by the western world.
Although thousands of individuals have used noni juice and provided positive testimonials supporting their recovery and improved health, the FDA forbids manufacturers from making claims that noni juice cures or that it can help treat specific health conditions. This is mainly because limited medical research has been done on noni juice to back up any health claim.
Despite this lack of medical research it is hard to deny the amazing testimonials provided by thousands of noni users.

For over 2000 years the benefits of noni juice have been praised by the Polynesians people who used it to treat numerous diseases including Diarrhea, Coughs and Colds, Eye infections, Rheumatism and Tuberculosis to name a few.
Only in the last 10 years has Noni become better known to the western world with thousands of users reporting positive results.
A survey performed by Dr. Neil Solomons of 20,000 Noni users came up with some interesting results.

  • The normal length of a menstrual cycle is 21 - 35 days, the average cycle being 28 days.

 4. Nigella sativa linn
Origian Black cumin (carum bulbocastanum) is rarely available so Nigella sativa is widely used instead, in India Carum carvi is the substitute. {cumins are from Apiaceae or Umbelliferae (both names are allowed by the ICBN) family but Nigella sativa is from Ranunculaceae family} Black cumin (not Nigella sativa)seeds come as paired or separate carpels, and are 3-4mm long. They have a striped pattern of nine ridges and oil canals, and are fragrant(Ayurveda says"Kaala jaaji sugandhaa cha"=Black cumin seed is fragrant itself), blackish in colour, boat-shaped, tapering at each extremity, with tiny stalks attached; has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries, both as a herb and pressed into oil, in Asia, Middle East, and Africa. It has been traditionally used for a variety of conditions and treatments related to respiratory health, stomach and intestinal health, kidney and liver function, circulatory and immune system support, as analgesic, antiinflammatory, antiallergic, antioxidants, anticancer, antiviral and for general well-being.
5.Black pepper was historically both a seasoning and a medicine. Long pepper, being stronger, was often the preferred medication, but both were used.
Black Pepper (or perhaps long pepper) was believed to cure illness such as constipation, diarrhea, earache, gangrene, heart disease, hernia, hoarseness, indigestion, insect bites, insomnia, joint pain, liver problems, lung disease, oral abscesses, sunburn, tooth decay, and toothaches. Various sources from the 5th century onward also recommend pepper to treat eye problems, often by applying salves or poultices made with pepper directly to the eye. There is no current medical evidence that any of these treatments has any benefit; pepper applied directly to the eye would be quite uncomfortable and possibly damaging.Nevertheless, Black pepper either powdered or its decoction is widely used in traditional Indian medicine and as a home remedy for relief from sore throat, throat congestion, cough etc.
Pepper is known to cause sneezing. Some sources say that piperine, a substance present in black pepper, irritates the nostrils, causing the sneezing; Few, if any, controlled studies have been carried out to answer the question. It has been shown that piperine can dramatically increase absorption of selenium, vitamin B, beta-carotene and curcumin as well as other nutrients.
As a medicine, pepper appears in the Buddhist Samaññaphala Sutta, chapter five, as one of the few medicines allowed to be carried by a monk.
Pepper contains small amounts of safrole, a mildly carcinogenic compound. Also, it is eliminated from the diet of patients having abdominal surgery and ulcers because of its irritating effect upon the intestines, being replaced by what is referred to as a bland diet. However, extracts from black pepper have been found to have antioxidant properties and anti-carcinogenic effects, especially when compared to chilli.
Piperine present in black pepper acts as a thermogenic compound. Piperine enhances the thermogenesis of lipid and accelerates energy metabolism in the body and also increases the serotonin and beta-endorphin production in the brain.
Piperine and other components from black pepper may also be helpful in treating vitiligo, although when combined with UV radiation should be staggered due to the effect of light on the compound.

Blood tonic

Contain with all thai herbs such as :

1.Vatica diospyroides ,This small tree is endemic to peninsular Thailand, growing gregariously in the vicinity of swampy areas (Nong Thung Thong), but also found in lowland evergreen forest, limestone formations in Phangnga and Trang, below 100 m altitude. Flower has a strong pleasant fragrance. Flowering: January-April; Fruiting: February-August. The plant is used as cardiac tonic.
2.Myristicaceae is the botanical name for a family of flowering plants. The family has been recognised by most taxonomists; it is sometimes called the "nutmeg family", after its most famous member, Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans).
3. Cardamom It is native to the East originating in the forests of the western ghats in southern India, where it grows wild. Today it also grows in Sri Lanka, Guatemala, Indo China and Tanzania. The ancient Egyptians chewed cardamom seeds as a tooth cleaner; the Greeks and Romans used it as a perfume. Vikings came upon cardamom about one thousand years ago, in Constantinople, and introduced it into Scandinavia, where it remains popular to this day.
Cardamom is an expensive spice, second only to saffron. It is often adulterated and there are many inferior substitutes from cardamom-related plants, such as Siam cardamom, Nepal cardamom, winged Java cardamom, and bastard cardamom. However, it is only Elettaria cardamomum which is the true cardamom. Indian cardamom is known in two main varieties: Malabar cardamom and Mysore cardamom. The Mysore variety contains higher levels of cineol and limonene and hence is more aromatic
4.Eugenia aromatica Kuntze ( clove oil ) Clove is widely cultivated in Indonesia, Sri-Lanka, Madagascar, Tanzania, and Brazil. It is used in limited amounts in food products as a fragrant, flavoring agent, and antiseptic.
Clinical trials assessing monotherapy of clove are limited, although the expert panel German Commission E has approved the use of clove as a topical antiseptic and anesthetic. Other uses for clove, such as premature ejaculation, dry socket, and fever reduction, lack reliable human clinical evidence.Eugenol, a constituent of clove, has been used for analgesic, local anesthetic, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial effects. It is used in the form of a paste or mixture as dental cement, filler, and restorative material.
Plant oils, including clove, may be used in livestock to inhibit microbial fermentation in waste products.

5.Terminalia chebula (Black Myrobalan or Chebulic Myrobalan; Chinese: 诃子 he zi; Sanskrit: haritaki; Tibetan: A-ru-ra) is a species of Terminalia, native to southern Asia from India and Nepal east to southwestern China (Yunnan), and south to Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Vietnam.

(History.—Several other species yield commercial myrobalans, but the fruit is almost unknown in Western commerce. In India and China, where the species are indigenous, the fruit is highly valued for almost every ill that flesh is heir to. The hard wood takes a fine polish and is useful in cabinet work. The creamy, fragrant juice of the T. angustifolia, Wight, when dried, is used in Indian temple worship as an incense. The tree is regarded sacred, and has interesting historical and mythological connections. The celebrated India Ink is the product of the bark and leaves of T. cattapa, Linné. All the species yield a tanning bark. The leaves, bark, and fruit yield a dye, which with iron gives a rich black, and with alum a fine yellow color.
Description.Chebula myrobalans are ovoid or oblong, about the size of the prune, yellow-brown, marked with 5 or 6 obtuse angles, and ribbed. The light-brown endocarp is resin-dotted. The single seed is white. The Myrobalani citrinae, or Yellow myrobalans, are smaller, orange or yellow-hued, and of a more pronounced bitter taste. They have been sold as white galls. The unripe fruit is known as Myrobalani nigrae, or Black myrobalans. They are blackish, shrivelled and brittle, glossy on fracture, and contain either none or an imperfect seed. They are astringent and somewhat sour.)

6.Terminalia citrina Roxb. ex Flem.(Samo Dee Nguu)

Tree, 20-30 cm high; young branches pubescent. Leaves simple, opposite, subopposite or alternate, elliptic, narrowly elliptic or oblong-elliptic, 2-6 cm wide, 3-14 cm long. Inflorescence in terminal panicle, apetalous; calyx greenish yellow. Fruit drupe-like, ellipsoid, turned greenish purple when ripe.
Young fruit: laxative, antipyretic, carminative; treatment of blood toxemia for post-labor (complications caused by abnormal menstruation and postpartum toxemia).

7.Terminalia is a genus of large trees of the flowering plant family, Combretaceae, comprising around 100 species distributed in tropical regions of the world. This genus gets it name from Latin terminus, referring to the fact that the leaves appear at the very tips of the shoots.
Trees of this genus are known especially as a source of secondary metabolites, e.g. cyclic triterpenes and their derivatives, flavonoids, tannins, and other aromatics. Some of these substances have antifungal, antibacterial, anti-cancer and hepatoprotective indications
8.Cassia garrettiana Craib, a Thai medicinal plant locally known as Samae-sarn, was investigated for
its active constituents against HIV-1 protease (HIV-1 PR). Bioassay-guided fractionation of the heart wood
of this plant led to the isolation of a stilbene derivative (1, piceatannol) and an anthraquinone derivative (2,
chrysophanol). Piceatannol exhibited appreciable inhibitory effect against HIV-1 PR with an IC50 value of
25.4 μg/ml, whereas that of chrysophanol was 73.5 μg/ml. In addition, other two stilbenoids together with
three anthraquinone derivatives were also investigated for their anti-HIV-1 PR activities. The result
indicated that resveratrol possessed anti-HIV-1 PR activity with an IC50 value of 85.0 μg/ml, whereas other
stilbenoid (oxyresveratrol) and anthraquinone derivatives (emodin, aloe-emodin, rhein) were inactive (IC50 >
100 μg/ml).

 9.AVICENNIACEAE:
Avicennia is a genus of flowering plants currently placed in the bear's breeches family, Acanthaceae. It contains mangrove trees, which occur in the intertidal zones of estuarine areas and are characterized by aerial roots. Species of Avicennia occur worldwide south of the Tropic of Cancer.
The taxonomic placement of Avicennia is contentious. In some classifications it has been placed in the family Verbenaceae, but more recently has been placed by some botanists in the monogeneric family Avicenniaceae. Recent phylogenetic studies have suggested that Avicennia is derived from within Acanthaceae, and the genus is included in that family in the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group system.
Designation of species is made difficult by the great variations in form of Avicennia marina. Between eight and ten species are usually recognised, with Avicennia marina further divided into a number of subspecies.
10.Dracaena loureiri Gagnep and Myristica fragrans Houtt are plants commonly
found in Thai medicine ingredients. We are interested in investigating whether the
extracts from these two plants have any effect on tumor cells. A leukemic T cell line,
Jurkat, was chosen for preliminary demonstration of the effect of Dracaena loureiri
Gagnep and Myristica fragrans Houtt extracts. Both plant extracts significantly inhibited
Jurkat cell proliferation, measured by MTT and 3H-thymidine incorporation assays, at the
concentrations 50 and 100 ug/ml . The mechanism of inhibition was investigated by
apoptosis detection using propidium iodide staining and flow cytometry. Both extracts
increased the numbers of sub-G1 cells at all concentrations tested. Our data suggested
that crude extracts from both Dracaena loureiri Gagnep and Myristica fragrans Houtt
inhibited proliferation of Jurkat cells by apoptosis induction.
Introduction: For a long period of time, traditional Thai medicines have been used for
disease relieving and health maintenance. Many intense studies has gradually been
increased for the search of bioactive compounds in medicinal plants. The potential
compounds of secondary metabolites, especially phenolic compounds were investigated
11.Aquilaria crassna: Aquilaria crassna is a tree species that has been of great ethnobotanical importance to people throughout the Greater Mekong region and beyond. Its heartwood and resin are highly valued commodities that have been transported along long-established trade routes for thousands of years. However, this species has now become Critically Endangered, owing to over-exploitation. Currently the majority of Agarwood comes from wild populations and there is now a very real danger this species may become extinct if wild harvesting continues at the current rate. To conserve this species, it is vital that this plant becomes more widely grown in cultivation, to reduce the pressure on the few wild populations that remain.

Hemorrhoid

Hemorrhoids are a common ailment. According to the National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse, about half of people over 50 years old have hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids, also known as piles, are defined by the Merck Manual as swollen and inflamed veins around the anus or inside the rectum. A study published in the April 2001 issue of "Alternative Medicine Review" suggests that herbal hemorrhoids treatment is effective.

The Study

The study, "Hemorrhoids and varicose veins: a review of treatment options," examined the effectiveness of traditional and supplement therapies for hemorrhoids and varicose veins. A researcher at Thorne Research in Portland, Oregon, found that herbal and bioflavonoid supplementation effectively prevents and treats hemorrhoids and varicose veins. According to the study author, Douglas J. MacKay, ND candidate, supplementing with the herbs horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum), butcher's broom (Ruscus aculeatus), gotu kola (Centella asiatica) and witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) can help treat and prevent complications of hemorrhoids.

What contain in the capsule's treatment

Horse Chestnut

Horse chestnut extract, derived from Aesculus hippocastanum, contains a saponin (a foaming phyto-chemical found in most vegetables, beans and herbs) known as aescin, which has anti-inflammatory properties and reduces swelling. Aescin promotes circulation through the veins and can strengthen the walls of the veins. Studies suggest that oral horse chestnut can reduce hemorrhoidal swelling and pain.

Butcher's Broom

Butcher's broom extract, derived from Ruscus aculeatus, contains the saponin known as ruscogenin, which has anti-inflammatory properties and vein-constriction effects. Supplementation with Butcher's Broom helps tighten and strengthen veins. Butcher's broom has traditionally been used to treat venous problems including hemorrhoids.

Gotu Kola

Gotu kola (Centella asiatica) contains saponins known as triterpenic acids that enhance connective tissue structure and improve blood flow. Gotu kola has been traditionally used to improve and support venous function and treat hemorrhoids. In one double-blind study reported in the March-April 1988 issue of the "Italian Journal of Biochemistry," gotu kola topical application helped improve hemorrhoid symptoms.

Witch Hazel

Witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) is a natural astringent traditionally used in herbal medicine to strengthen veins. Witch hazel contains tannins that have an astringent effect. Witch hazel extract is applied to hemorrhoids to reduce swelling and inflammation.

Turmeric ( Khamin Chan)

Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plant of the ginger family, Zingiberaceae. It is native to tropical South Asia and needs temperatures between 20°C and 30°C, and a considerable amount of annual rainfall to thrive.Plants are gathered annually for their rhizomes, and reseeded from some of those rhizomes in the following season.
The rhizomes are boiled for several hours and then dried in hot ovens, after which they are ground into a deep orange-yellow powder commonly used as a spice in curries and other South Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine, for dyeing, and to impart color to mustard condiments. Its active ingredient is curcumin and it has a distinctly earthy, slightly bitter, slightly hot peppery flavor and a mustardy smell.
In medieval Europe, turmeric became known as Indian saffron, since it was widely used as an alternative to the far more expensive saffron spice.
Erode, a city in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu, is the world's largest producer and most important trading center of turmeric in Asia. For these reasons, Erode in history is also known as "Yellow City"[citation needed] or "Turmeric City".[citation needed] Sangli, a town in the southern part of the Indian western state of Maharashtra, is the second largest and most important trading center for turmeric in Asia.

Here are 20 reasons to add turmeric to your diet:

1. It is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial agent, useful in disinfecting cuts and burns.
2. When combined with cauliflower, it has shown to prevent prostate cancer and stop the growth of existing prostate cancer.
3. Prevented breast cancer from spreading to the lungs in mice.
4. May prevent melanoma and cause existing melanoma cells to commit suicide.
5. Reduces the risk of childhood leukemia.
6. Is a natural liver detoxifier.
7. May prevent and slow the progression of Alzheimer's disease by removing amyloyd plaque buildup in the brain.
8. May prevent metastases from occurring in many different forms of cancer.
9. It is a potent natural anti-inflammatory that works as well as many anti-inflammatory drugs but without the side effects.
10. Has shown promise in slowing the progression of multiple sclerosis in mice.
11. Is a natural painkiller and cox-2 inhibitor.
12. May aid in fat metabolism and help in weight management.
13. Has long been used in Chinese medicine as a treatment for depression.
14. Because of its anti-inflammatory properties, it is a natural treatment for arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
15. Boosts the effects of chemo drug paclitaxel and reduces its side effects.
16. Promising studies are underway on the effects of turmeric on pancreatic cancer.
17. Studies are ongoing in the positive effects of turmeric on multiple myeloma.
18. Has been shown to stop the growth of new blood vessels in tumors.
19. Speeds up wound healing and assists in remodeling of damaged skin.
20. May help in the treatment of psoriasis and other inflammatory skin conditions.
Turmeric can be taken in powder or pill form. It is available in pill form in most health food stores, usually in 250-500mg capsules.
Once you start using turmeric on a regular basis, it's fun to find new ways to use it in recipes. My favorite way to use it is to add a pinch of it to egg salad. It adds a nice flavor and gives the egg salad a rich yellow hue.
Contraindications: Turmeric should not be used by people with gallstones or bile obstruction. Though turmeric is often used by pregnant women, it is important to consult with a doctor before doing so as turmeric can be a uterine stimulant.

1Star For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support and/or minimal health benefit.

Historical or traditional use (may or may not be supported by scientific studies)

Andrographis has long been used in traditional Indian and chines herb medicine.  The most common reported uses were for digestive problems (as is the case with most non-toxic bitter herbs such as andrographis), snakebite, and infection ranging from malaria to dysentery. Interestingly, some of these uses have been validated by modern scientific research. Although the roots were sometimes used in traditional medicine, the leaves and flowers are now more commonly used.

Active constituents

The major constituents in andrographis are diterpene lactones known as andrographolides. These bitter constituents are believed to have immune-stimulating, anti-inflammatory, fertility-decreasing, liver-protective, and bile secretion-stimulating actions.3 Though some older studies suggested andrographis was antibacterial, modern research has been unable to confirm this finding.
Several double-blind clinical trials have found that andrographis can help reduce symptom severity in people with common colds.Though the earliest clinical trial among these showed modest benefits, later studies have tended to be more supportive. Standardized andrographis extract combined with eleuthero (Siberian ginseng), known as Kan jang, has also been shown in a double-blind clinical trial to reduce symptoms of the common cold.
A preliminary uncontrolled study using isolated andrographolide found that while it tended to decrease viral load and increase CD4 lymphocyte levels in people with HIV infection, at the amount used, the preparation led to side effects, including headache, fatigue, a bitter/metallic taste in the mouth, and elevated liver enzymes (which returned to normal after the medication was stopped). It is unknown whether the andrographolides used in this study directly killed HIV or had an immune-strengthening effect.
Andrographis has proven helpful in combination with antibiotics for people with dysentery, a severe form of diarrhea. It has also shown preliminary benefit for people with chronic viral hepatitis.

How much is usually taken?

Andrographis is generally available as capsules with dried herb or as standardized extracts (containing 11.2 mg andrographolides per 200 mg of extract). For dried herb, 500–3,000 mg are taken three times per day. In clinical trials, 100 mg of a standardized extract were taken two times per day to treat the common cold. For indigestion,
1 Jar contain 80 Caps( 4 caps for 2 times a day)

Are there any side effects or interactions?

Some people develop intestinal upset when taking Andrographis. If this occurs, reduce the amount taken or take it with meals. Headache, fatigue, a bitter/metallic taste, and elevated liver enzymes were reported in one trial with HIV-infected people taking high doses of isolated Andrographolides. This has not been reported in people using whole Andrographis or standardized extracts at the amounts recommended above. As with all bitter herbs, Andrographis may aggravate ulcers and heartburn. The safety of Andrographis during pregnancy and breast-feeding is unknown.
At the time of writing, there were no well-known drug interactions with Andrographis.

With the arrival of spring, many people follow their gut instinct and begin to focus on healthier eating and lifestyle habits in order to strengthen their resistance to illness and improve general well-being. One of the simplest and most effective ways to boost vitality after months in Canadian winter hibernation mode is to take herbal bitters.
There is one bitter herb which stands out among the others: andrographis.
Traditionally used in Indian and Asian medicine, Andrographis paniculata is steadily gaining popularity in the West—and for good reason. This remarkable bitter-tasting herb makes an excellent spring tonic, especially for individuals who want to give their digestive and immune systems a boost.
Andrographis has a wide range of therapeutic indications, including its traditional use to lower fevers, prevent cold and flu, and treat digestive problems such as indigestion and poor appetite.
Embrace that bitter taste!
When we taste a bitter substance, the bitter-sensitive taste buds at the back of the mouth and tongue are stimulated. This triggers a cascade of signals which communicate important messages to the rest of the gastrointestinal tract and related organs, including the pancreas, liver, and gallbladder, in preparation for the food to come.
By increasing digestive juices and motility, andrographis extract promotes the efficient uptake and assimilation of nutrients from the digestive tract.
The second brain In order to appreciate the importance of bitter herbs such as andrographis, and how this herb influences the body when ingested, the gastrointestinal tract should be regarded as another sensory organ.
As a sensory detecting system, the digestive tract is so complex that it is now thought of by many scientists as a second brain. Its entire surface contains highly specialized nerve, endocrine, and immune cells that respond to tastes and to the gastrointestinal contents.
As well as absorbing nutrients from food, the lining acts as an efficient immune barrier against potentially harmful substances. Incredibly, the gastrointestinal immune system harbours 70 to 80 percent of the body's immune cells.
The gut/immune connection There is increasing evidence that, as well as promoting good digestion, certain bitters also prime the immune system via the GI immune system. Research suggests that this is the case with andrographis.
The extract is reported to increase antibody activity and enhance the body's ability to destroy dead or foreign cells (phagocytosis) by scavenger cells called macrophages, and to strengthen immunity and recovery from infection. This gut/immune connection justifies the approach of practitioners who recommend digestive tonics such as bitters to influence overall wellness.
Andrographis has a long history of use for cold and flu prevention and for speeding recovery time during a cold. In Asia this action has led to andrographis being referred to as Indian echinacea. It was even reported to stem the Spanish flu in parts of India during the 1918 pandemic.
Colds and flu In one study involving outpatients diagnosed with the common cold, participants who were given andrographis extract demonstrated a significantly reduced number of sick days, improved symptoms, and hastened recovery.
In another study involving 158 patients diagnosed with the common cold, participants given andrographis extract experienced measurable improvements in symptoms such as headaches, cough, earaches, and expectoration.
In a published review of the safety and efficacy of a combination of andrographis and eleuthero root, research indicated that the combination alleviated cold symptoms.
Anti-inflammatory action Numerous studies have indicated that the andrographis herb possesses anti-inflammatory action, justifying the herb¡¦s use in inflammatory conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis, and respiratory tract infection. There is evidence that the herb also stabilizes mast cells and has antiallergic actions.

Dosage: 4 Caps, 2 times per day.
Safety Although Andrographis is generally well tolerated, some studies have indicated that the herb may inhibit fertility and should be avoided by those who are trying to conceive.
Andrographis is contraindicated during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
